The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is releasing the following information
pursuant to D.C. Official Code § 22-4011, which authorizes MPD to inform the public
of the location and other information pertaining to registered sex offenders who
live, reside, work, or attend school in the District of Columbia.
The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted or found not
guilty by reason of insanity of a sex offense that requires registration with the
Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency and community notification by the
Metropolitan Police Department. The District of Columbia requires everyone who has
been convicted or found guilty by reason of insanity of a "registration offense,"
as that term is defined in D.C. Official Code § 22-4001(8), to register as a sex
offender and provide periodic verification and updates to their records.
If this offender was sentenced to prison for this offense, s/he has already served
that portion of the sentence and has been released, although a period of probation,
parole, or supervised release may still remain. Unless indicated, S/HE IS NOT
WANTED BY THE POLICE AT THIS TIME. This notification is not intended
to create fear, but rather to inform the public in order to permit individuals to
take lawful steps for their own safety and that of their children.
Sex offenders have always lived in our communities, but it was not until the passage
of D.C.'s sex offender registration law that both law enforcement officials and
the community at large began to receive specific information concerning their whereabouts
in the community. Abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate, harass, or harm
registered sex offenders, their families, or their property will not be tolerated
and is subject to prosecution.
If you would like further information about a sex offender, have information about
a wanted sex offender, or believe any information on this bulletin is in error,
please contact the Metropolitan Police Department, Sex Offender Registry Unit, at
300 Indiana Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20001, phone: (202) 727-4407, or e-mail
us at sexoffender.registry@dc.gov.
